Privacy Policy
Payroll Quest is run by Payroll Quest. We collect as little as we can to run the game and handle purchases. This page says what that is and what we do with it.
What we store
- Account name and password. The password is stored as a salted hash, never in plain text.
- Game data. Your character, items, progress, and a log of trades and other in-game transactions, so the game works and so we can look into cheating or lost items.
- Email address, only if you buy something: the address you give at checkout. We use it for receipts and to contact you about a purchase. It is not used to log in and we don't send newsletters.
- IP address, used for rate limiting (stopping mass sign-ups and login guessing) and kept in short-lived server logs.
- Purchase records: which item, when, the amount and currency, and the Stripe reference.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. The game has no ad trackers, no third-party analytics and no tracking cookies. Your browser's local storage is used only to remember things like your login session and settings.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. You type your card details on Stripe's page, not ours, so we never see or store your card number. Stripe tells us that a payment succeeded, for which account and item, and the email you entered. See Stripe's privacy policy.
Who processes data for us
- Cloudflare: delivers the site and protects it from attacks; it sees your IP address and requests.
- Stripe: processes payments.
Our game server is hosted on a rented server (VPS). Data may be processed outside your country; we rely on the providers' standard safeguards for that.
How long we keep it
Game data stays as long as your account exists. Purchase records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require, even after an account is deleted. Server logs are rotated within a few weeks.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account by emailing [email protected] from the address on file or with your account name. We'll confirm the account is yours and reply within 30 days. Deleting an account removes its game data and any unused items; it can't be undone.
If you are in the EU, UK or a similar jurisdiction, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
The game is for players 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from younger children; if you think a child under 13 has an account, tell us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and mention it in the game.
